Young Leaders Development Programme
What we do
Through our award-winning Young Leaders Development Programme (YLDP), we equip hundreds of young people between the ages of 18 and 35 in Scotland with the skills to take action on climate change in their personal, professional and civic lives. The programme is open to all young people and is free to take part in.
Over the course of a year, our Young Leaders attend 6 day-long training modules which cover
Climate change knowledge - understanding the climate emergency and how climate change is impacting different areas of our lives, and identifying the key systemic and behavioural changes needed to transition to a more sustainable future.
Leadership skills - improving communication, understanding how to motivate and inspire others, with a goal to influence more climate-driven decision making.

Our Aims
Train and empower a diverse range of young people in Scotland to be leaders.
Equip Young Leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to influence their personal, professional and political connections.
Learn from and engage with expert speakers, influential organisations and peers.
Provide opportunities and support for Young Leaders to take action and develop projects; collaborate with others; and enact real world positive change.
Join the Programme
Since 2015 we have delivered four Young Leaders Development Programmes, each with around 130 participants from across Scotland. The programme takes place over a period of 6-9 months, typically through a combination of full-day weekend events, online or social activities.
Our three climate change YLDP modules are open to the public. Please follow our social media channels and sign up to our newsletter to keep up to date on opportunities to join these modules.
Updates and Progress
Our Young Leaders Development Programme is not running in 2023/24 as it is currently undergoing an exciting redevelopment. We will be back with an update on it in early 2024!
Due to a high volume of enquiries regarding our YLDP, we may not be able to respond to every single email and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
